GO LOCAL in South Africa!
The cool colours of winter are set with the crisp mountain air and clear sunshine of one of the world’s oldest ranges, the Drakensburg. Amazing views of the Giants Castle and Cathedral Peak give way in summer to the unbelievably green smaller foothills, stunning waterfalls, mountain streams and mysterious caves. These beautiful mountains bring immediate breathing space and a chance to unwind from our busy day-to-day schedules. There are a wide number of resorts to book from that are family friendly and kids of all ages will enjoy. A rich tradition of hand-made crafts and art can be found on the Midlands Meander, a self-drive experience across multiple small towns in KwaZulu- Natal.
Ballito, the heart of the Dolphin Coast, with year-round warm Indian ocean waters, is a popular spot for families and includes a myriad of local attractions. Boasting some quaint sea coves and natural rock pools, the area is also close to Rainfarm Game Lodge that includes a variety of wild animals to be enjoyed on mini-safari drives. There are several holiday resorts at the end of the north coast with beautiful caravan parks, self catering accommodation, chalets and first class restaurants. Beautiful Zululand, with magnificent mountains and huge game reserves must be explored. Not forgetting the warm pools in Vyheid, if you drive further up north you find the famed King Shaka’s royal military homestead, in a small town that has a blend of African and Indian traditions. “There’s something for everyone and for everyone to make life time memories.”
Hibberdene, Port Shepstone, Shelly Beach, Margate, Southbroom and Port Edward are just some of the places you can visit. They form the core of this southern coastline. If you are an adrenaline junkie the South Coast promises that you will not be disappointed! The wild swing in Oribi Gorge will offer you guaranteed over-the-edge excitement. Take a walk on the suspension bridge that is 100m above the gorge and enjoy views never seen before. Or what about Wild River rafting a great way to experience Mother Nature at her finest. The sardine run is an annual phenomenon that brings the greatest shoal of fish - sardines - up the southern KwaZulu-Natal coastline during the winter. Something for everyone to enjoy is the Wild Wave’s water park at the wild coast park in Port Edward. This amazing water park is guaranteed to get your pulse racing. The little ones will have a ball, safely in the Aquaplay area.
Stunning early-morning beach walks are an absolute must-do in Durban, where nearly 7 kms of broad, modern promenade encourages you to stretch your legs and breathe in bracing ocean air. The best of local entertainment that will blow your mind, with mouth watering Bunny Chow's an absolute dining must! Durban boasts an incredible range of places to eat, from the humblest shisa nyamas to exotic Indian fine dining. Why not visit The Valley Of A 1000 Hills, a beautiful place for hiking and watch the sun set. Not forgetting the the culture of Durban, nestled in this region is the famous Zulu Dancing at the Phezulu Safari Park. This is the place to be all year round where the sun never sets. A visit to Durban wouldn’t be complete without exploring the world class Ushaka Marine World, where you can discover so many undersea creatures. Afterwards, enjoy the water park to cool off!
